Growing the Beef

Early Spring grazing
We have committed almost twenty five years to organic farming practices. Our USDA organic certification assures you that our beef has not been exposed to pesticides, herbicides, hormones, antibiotics, or anything that doesn't occur naturally. This has been our farming philosophy since 1986, and our certification extends back to 1997.
Compared to "supermarket" beef, the amount of certified organically raised beef is very small. The amount of properly raised "grass-finished" beef is also very small. The amount of beef that is raised according to both these management practices is extremely scarce. We are very proud to offer our beef to knowledgeable and discerning customers.
The combination of organic production and grass-finishing requires the very highest levels of farm management practices, and the very highest levels of animal genetics. The beef you buy from this farm has been raised on mothers' milk, pasture, and dedicated forage crops for final fattening. The health benefits of organic production and grass raised beef have both been well documented. We are one of the very few producers who have combined the two practices.
Our beef is processed through a USDA inspected and certified organic slaughterhouse and butcher shop. This means that we are able to sell our beef to you by the individual cut in any quantity you want. Our processor's organic certification means that our beef is segregated from other animals, and federal organic sanitation practices are observed. We cryovac our beef to ensure minimum air contact, and to maximize freezer life.
Our store front is not quite finished. On it, we will have plenty of information on beef cuts, shipping practices, and other pertinent information. Right now, please contact us so that we can add you to our prospective customer list, inform you of availability, and answer any questions you may have. Our e-mail address and phone number are on the contact page. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Please do not be discouraged if we currently do not have something that you want. We often work with our existing customers to try to modify their orders so that new customers may try some of our beef earlier than otherwise possible. We are very grateful for the help of our customers in doing this, and we are expanding our cow herd as quickly as possible to increase our production.
We have a lot to share with you. Please read the other pages to see how we do what we do, and why we do what we do. We have tried to keep the website informational and informal, but please do not mistake our attempts at levity as a lack of seriousness on our part. We are totally dedicated to raising the most unique, highest quality, most sought-after beef available.
